Perfect-bound, perfectly printed and delivered in just days

Offering both a lithographic and a digital options offers the best of both worlds. Both offer exceptional quality, but for short-run jobs digital offers an additional level of flexibility without any compromises. When we were asked to produce a short-run children’s book, we were able to offer the perfect solution.

The Project

This was the second book we’ve produced for Oxford Designers and Illustrators – who were after a short-run of an illustrated children’s book by Pamella Masih called “Brave Harry the Hedgehog”.

The client required the look and feel of a large-scale production book, but with the flexibility of a shorter print-run and quick turnaround.

Key Challenges

  • 1

The feel of a long-run book, with the flexibility of short-runs.

  • 2

Printed on stock that enables both the black text and the colourful illustrations to be reproduced vividly.

Our Solution

Our Solution

For such a short run, we decided to print this book on one of our five digital presses, which also allows for excellent colour reproduction and image clarity.

We used two types of stock and finishes to create the book. Firstly we printed the cover on a 300gsm FSC stock with a gloss lamination. The inside pages (text) were on a 150gsm FSC silk stock. With it being a children’s book, it needed a level of durability to cope with small hands.

The whole book was then perfect-bound in-house before being dispatched to the client – the whole process taking just a matter of days.
