New defibrillator offers peace of mind

St Austell Printing Company have installed a lifesaving piece of equipment, offering peace of mind to staff and visitors to their factory, Print Shop and Conference Centre.
The company have installed an automatic defibrillator, which administers an electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. The British Heart Foundation say that these devices play an essential part in trying to save the life of someone in this position.
Beth Mayman, SAPC’s Operations Manager said the equipment is a very worthy investment: “50 staff work here at SAPC, alongside a significant number of visitors every day to our Print Shop and Conference Centre.
“The defibrillator is fully automatic and once established the patient needs electro shock therapy will administer the shock itself. The person using the machine simply follows the audio instructions from the unit.”
The installation of the new equipment has been combined with first aid training for a large number of the SAPC team. Based in the main reception of the building, the defibrillator is also available for use by anyone who requires it on the Business Park.
Beth concluded: “Obviously we hope it never needs to be used, but it gives us, our team and visitors an added peace of mind.”
