Colourful new book encourages children to eat their ‘five a day’.

SAPC was pleased to be chosen to print a brand-new book, packed full of colour and designed to encourage young children to eat their ‘five a day’.

“Captain Satsuma has Landed” is aimed at children between 5-8 years of age and inspires them to view fruit and vegetables as positive and interesting.

Cornish author James Hopson is behind the book: “Using fruit and vegetable characters in a fun, fast paced adventure story is a different and somewhat unique approach to engage with children.

“All the messages given out are subtle and non demanding. The story has lots of humour and contains beautiful illustrations by Rocket Pixels Limited of Cornwall.”

When James was looking for a company to print and manufacture his book, there were a number of important considerations including a responsibility towards the environment.

“Because there are references to nature and the environment in my book, and will continue to be on my website and follow up stories – this service was an essential part of my decision making.”

The book was manufactured in SAPC’s sustainable factory in Cornwall, using FSC paper from responsible sources, vegetable-based inks on equipment which uses solar panel – generated by an array on the roof. St Austell Printing Company have recently been named the UK’s most environmentally-friendly printing company with a number of major awards.

“I wanted to book to be printed to a high standard and it’s fantastic to find a local company that offers that. SAPC are a great company to deal with with first class service throughout. My main contact was with Luke who has been a great help.

“I’d like to thank all the team involved though for their efforts. I’m delighted with the finished quality and wouldn’t hesitate to use SAPC for my future projects.”
