SAPC sponsor TedX Truro talks

We jumped at the chance to play our part in Cornwall’s inaugural TedX event.

TedX talks are inspired by the TED conference, where some of the world’s best thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created TEDx, a program of local, self-organised events to bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Mandy Reynolds of Stephens Scown brings the globally acclaimed event to the Cornwall stage for the first time with TedX Truro. Beth Mayman SAPC operations manager was thrilled when Mandy asked for SAPC’s support.

Business collaboration, regeneration and creativity in the region are part of the SAPC ethos. This event provides a platform for bringing people together drawing on the wealth of experience and talent in Cornwall with the same goal of exploring knowledge and being inspired.

Our support came in the form of our printing services and expertise. We printed the brochure for the event and SAPC regional sales manager Jon Hart collaborated with Chloe Rickard on the TedX Truro event brochure.

In discussions with Chloe, who managed the design element of the book, Jon discussed how the printing, paper samples and finishing techniques could communicate professionalism and innovation. The final print looks sleek and professional with the eye-catching design and that velvety, smooth laminated cover.

It was a pleasure to meet with Chloe and have the opportunity to influence the look and feel of the event brochure. We talked through paper options and finishes and I sent along a supply of paper samples for Chloe to look through to decide which stock best suited the brochure.

TEDxTruro took place on 9 September at Truro’s Burrell Theatre. The theme of the day Time and Tide, comprised inspiring talks from speakers who have spent their lives creating change: some through researching and educating; others by facing and rising above adversity.

This not for profit event couldn’t have been possible without the support and financial contribution of our sponsors who share the philosophy of TEDx and are working with us to showcase the great ideas that are being generated in the region.

Beth attended the event and said it was difficult to single out any one talk as every one was inspiring and defining in their own way.

The talks were incredible. Each was unique and clever. We’re proud and privileged to support this event which is set to advance the innovation, creativity and diversity that have come to define industry and commerce in Cornwall.

We eagerly await TedX Truro 2017…
